Workshop at the Castle

I believe I have already mentioned on flickr what an amazing day we had at the workshop. Everybody was in high spirits, we all had fun, everyone learned a lot, got to have a lot of one-on-one time, extinguished many doubts and went home with some really nice photos. Also, like I mentioned, the only thing that we could complain of was that the time just flew by and we just wanted more more more! 🙂

Como eu já havia mencionado no flickr, o workshop foi um dia maravilhoso. Todos estavam de ótimo humor, todos nos divertimos muito, todos aprenderam muito, tiveram um 1-0-1 comigo, tiraram muitas dúvidas e voltaram para casa com algumas fotos muito bonitas. Também, como eu já havia mencionado, a única coisa que não foi legal foi que o tempo passou rápido demais e nós queríamos mais mais mais! 🙂

 The location was a castle built in medieval style, which is actually a winery. It was build in 2007 by the owners themselves! It’s in the city of Bandeirantes – Paraná. The guys at the castle were amaaazing! Such great people! I can’t thank them enough for their kindness and for allowing us to use their place to do the photos 🙂

A locação foi um castelo construído em estilo medieval, mas que na verdade é uma vinícola. Foi contruído em 2007 pelos próprios donos! Fica na cidade de Bandeirantes – Paraná. O pessoal dono do castelo foi maravilhooooso!! Ótimas pessoas, muito simpáticas e gente boa! Eu não tenho como agradecer o suficiente pela gentileza de nos deixarem usar o castelo para fazer as fotos 🙂

Doing the photos in this particular place   was a lot of fun but a bit risky as well.

 We had to climb the tower using a not-so-sure-if-I-can-trust ladder… The first time I visited the castle, the first thing I thought was: “Wow! I gotta put two people up there” heheh
But the models were more than reluctant about the idea of climbing the ladder, so obviously I had to go up first. Being the dare-devil that I am, I climbed it as if it were the easiest thing on earth (their words)… but I gotta admit that the first time I took that one look down my legs turned into noodles for a few seconds… Then I got used to the view and I also had to go up and down a lot, helping people up and down… lol… One’s gotta do what one’s gotta do 😛

The idea of this photo is basically the “war” that some brides go through to make their wedding better than the wedding of their cousins, their friends and connaissances… that being one of the reasons that more and more I feel less and less the desire to make a wedding reception for me and my beau when the time comes… not to mention that the money spent in one day is sometimes enough to buy a small flat here in my city.

Fazer as fotos nessa parte do castelo foi divertido, mas um pouco arriscado. Tivemos que subir usando uma escada que não inspirava muita confiança. A primeira vez que eu visitei o castelo eu pensei: “Nossa, eu preciso colocar duas pessoas lá em cima” eheheh
Mas as modelos estavam mais do que relutantes em subir, com razão. Então obviamente eu tive que subir primeiro para mostrar que “tudo bem”. Sendo a sem-noção que eu sou, subi como se fosse a coisa mais fácil do mundo (palavras das modelos), mas eu tenho que admitir que quando dei aquela primeira olhada para baixo minhas perninhas viraram miojo por alguns segundos. Mas logo me acostumei com a idéia e deu tudo certo, mesmo porque eu tive que subir e descer várias vezes ajudando pessoas e espadas a subirem e descerem hehehe. Temos que fazer o que temos que fazer 😛

A idéia por trás dessa foto é basicamente a “guerra” que algumas mulheres travam para fazer com que seu grande dia seja melhor, mais bonito, mais sofisticado, mais interessante, mais mais mais do que o casamento de suas amigas, parentes, conhecidas… esse é um dos motivos que cada vez mais eu sinto cada vez menos vontade de fazer uma festa de casamento para mim e meu beau quando decidirmos “juntar os trapos”. Sem falar que muitas vezes o dinheiro gasto em apenas um dia é suficiente para comprar um pequeno apartamento aqui na minha cidade. E eu preferiria muito mais gastar esse dinheiro viajando o mundo.

 During the workshop we discussed many things, but mostly how to work with natural light and how to compose a photo.

Durante o workshop discutimos muitas coisas, mas principalmente como trabalhar com luz natural e como compor uma foto.

 And yet again I went through a little adventure to capture a pidgeon for the photos. Unfortunately we ran out of time and light to shoot the awesomeness I had in mind for the photos with the pidgeon and the towers… maybe next time.

E mais uma vez eu passei por uma pequena aventura para capturar uma pomba para as fotos. Infelizmente ficamos sem tempo e sem luz para fotografar a idéia sensacional que eu tinha para as fotos com a pomba e as torres… talvez numa próxima vez.

I hate winter time. It wasn’t even 6p.m. and we were already into the night. Oh well… I hope you have enjoyed the photos… and I’m already thinking about hosting another workshop later this year 🙂

Eu detesto como o dia acaba rápido no inverno. Não eram nem 18:00 e já era noite. Oh well… eu espero que tenham gostado das fotos… e já estou pensando em fazer outro workshop ainda esse ano 🙂
