Montecasino

One of the obvious things to do in Joburg is to visit the Montecasino.  The place has been designed to replicate an ancient Tuscan village. The main building with the casino has a fake sky, painted on the roof, inside going from light to dark from one side to the other and as you walk, the clouds seem to move as well. Pretty cool.

There are many stores and restaurants inside. We ate at a very nice italian restaurant but for some reason there were argentinian flags everywhere. In general, food is really cheap in South Africa and the portions are more than generous. One can eat very well there.

Fascinating. Great captures. Watch out for those “generous portions.” They can change your body profile from “appealing” to “apppalling” in short order! 😉

Fascinating place! I was in Jo’burg some years ago, but it either wasn’t built then or I simply didn’t see it. It looks well worth a visit. Thanks for the photos!
