Before going to NYC I had done a little planning on what to do and see there. Not a precise day by day itinerary, but points of interest that we should try to see during our stay. So, since we actually had many days to see the city, we decided to “really see it”, so on our second day we walked down the 5th avenue. We were staying on the 123th, almost corner with Malcolm X avenue, and we walked from there till the 14th street. Yes, walked. Because we wanted to.

Sim, andamos. Porque nós quisemos.
Our first stop was Apple Store, obviously. Le boyfriend is very much into technology stuff. I was more interested in the Sephora stores and Bergdorf Goodman. Then, we paid quick visits to some Churches.

It’s just so much fun! @.@ Depois nós visitamos algumas igrejas.
5th Avenue Presbyterian Church
Saint Thomas Church
Saint Patrick’s Church and many other places were being reformed. Inside and outside, which made for a very frustrating touristing photography with all the scaffolding everywhere, hiding the beautiful facades.

Teuscher Chocolate Shop. I would really like to know what a US$95 for half a pound chocolate tastes like. Now you know what to give me for birthday present in case you are interested in spoiling me.

Loja do chocolate Teuscher.

On our third day, we went to Wall Street for the Wall Street Experience Tour on the Financial Crisis. I had low expectations on that, but was I mistaken? That was actually one of the things we liked the most in our trip to NYC. No joke. I had just recently watched “Too big to fail” so I was able to get some of the guide’s references, who if I’m not mistaken is named James. He had so much energy and a sparkle in his eyes… He surely knew a lot of the places history and was quite funny. He made the tour absolutely amazing for me and le boyfriend and I presume for the rest of the people in the group. If you check on trip advisor you’ll see all the many positive reviews on this tour.

Oh, and we passed by the bull, but it was crowded, so we decided to go back there another day…

These hot dog carts are literally everywhere in NYC…

We had gotten the subway to go to Wall Street, but from there we walked to Chinatown, again, to see more of the city. In Chinatown, le boyfriend bought some kung fu butterfly knives and fans for practice, and we had lunch at the Big Wong Restaurant. I had read about the place before going there and one’s to keep in mind they are not there to pamper you, but the food is good.

Our day was not over yet. We headed to Columbus Circle to see some stores in the area and then another long walk back to our place going up the 7th avenue…

mmmm, i love the way you captured my city, girl!! i miss it every day.
haha thanks! ;D
I wish I had some friends living there though, to take us to some less touristy places… I love to see how the city really looks like for the locals.
how long are you in town?! i lived in the lower east side, i can give ya a few great places to check out! i highly recommend the empire state building, the view is so worth it! and hit up ANY cupcake truck in soho 😉 also, if you want a fancy night out, eat at angelica kitchen. reasonably priced local vegan food that changes daily… and you’d never guess it was vegan. also, they have a free corking service! 🙂 the ambience is so charming… have a blast!!!!!!! xo
I’m back to Brazil already. I was in NYC for 13 days! There’s a slight chance I might go back there on December though 🙂
well, next time… 😉
I was there just after you! I have several friends in NYC and nearby – it’s great to have a native tour guide, but it looks like you guys did great. There’s always more to see – you should make some flickr contacts in NYC before December and get some tips for next time 😉
I talked to some people who lives or lived in NYC, but as it was our first time there, there was lots to see either way…
