Chicago, Day #1 – Walk around the Michigan Lake

Before we arrived in Chicago, we had spent a whole day traveling. First, 5 hours by bus from Washington DC to NYC (the Greyhound bus was late again, horrible seats again), then we got a transfer bus from Port Authority to the La Guardia Airport, where we got probably the worst American Airlines airplane to Chicago. The airplane itself was old and hideously noisy, we were sitting near the turbines and I’m positive about having some hearing loss due to that piece of flying crap. Never had I traveled under such head spliting painful noise. The flight attendant ran out of water and coffee for the last seats and said would come back with more to give to us, which she never did, and at the end of the flight she passed by and said: “oh, I forgot to bring you water and coffee, would you still like some?” with a tone of voice and expression that clearly meant “I couldn’t care less about you people”… we said “yes, please, we would like some”, she never showed up again. I now officially hate American Airlines and Greyhound. And I gotta say, at first I was worried about Brazil hosting the World Cup and Olympics, but people traveling in the USA are already used to being treated like cattle, so we’ll do more than fine hosting these events. And to think that I was afraid of how people would perceive Brazil’s services…

Antes de chegarmos em Chicago, nós passamos um dia inteiro viajando. Primeiro, 5 horas de Washington até Nova York (com o ônibus da Greyhound atrasado em uma hora novamente, assentos horríveis novamente), daí pegamos um transfer do Port Authority até o aeroporto La Guardia, onde pegamos um teco-teco da American Airlines, positivamente o pior vôo da minha vida, com as turbinas mais barulhentas, de fazer rachar a cabeça de dor com o barulho surreal. A aeromoça “esqueceu” de trazer água e café pra gente e quando pedimos ela fez cara blasé, disse que traria e nunca mais apareceu. Eu vou te dizer, a princípio eu estava preocupada com o Brasil hospedando a Copa do Mundo e as Olimpíadas, mas quem viaja pelos Estados Unidos está acostumado a ser tratado como gado, então nosso serviço é mais do que suficiente para hospedar esses eventos. E pensar que a gente reclama tanto do Brasil… 

Anyway, that was the only thing that really got on my nerves in this trip, becaaause… we just simply LOOOOOVED Chicago. What a city! Well, the day before we arrived late at the room we rented, we just ate pizza, took a shower and off to bed. The next day we woke up early to walk around the Lake Michigan, from North to South. By the way, that’s the place where we stayed in Chicago, the place is great and well located, our host was fantastic and so helpful! Our experience in Chicago was much improved with his help, so if you are thinking of going to Chicago and you are in Airbnb, I highly recommend Mike’s place.

De qualquer forma, esse dia de viagens realmente foi irritante, mas a cidade de Chicago é sensacional… nós AMAAAAMOOSS Chicago. Que cidade! Bom, no dia anterior nós chegamos tarde, só comemos pizza, tomamos banho e fomos pra cama. No dia seguinte nós acordamos cedo e fomos andar pelo Lago Michigan, de Norte a Sul. A propósito, esse é o lugar onde ficamos em Chicago, o lugar é mara e muito bem localizado, nosso anfitrião foi fantástico e nos ajudou muito! Nossa experiência em Chicago foi muito melhor graças à ajuda dele, então se vocês estiverem pensando em ir a Chicago e estão no Airbnb, eu recomendo o apartamento do Mike.

Chicago is such a pleasant city! People there are nice, the city is clean, food is good, prices are ok, and look at all that blue water! ❤

Chicago é uma cidade tão agradável! As pessoas são gentis, a cidade é limpa, a comida é boa, os preços são ok, e olhem só toda essa água azul! ❤

 

There were some artificial beaches by the lake, it was so nice! Thousands of people there, just relaxing or playing games.

Haviam algumas praias artificiais à beira do lago, era tão legal! Milhares de pessoas lá, relaxando ou jogando.
