Cusco – Day Five – Paragliding in Chincheros

Have I mentioned already this was one of the best trips of my life? That I’m in perpetual love with Peru? The people, the food, the sceneries… the fifth day was the day I decided to do paragliding in Chincheros. What a fantastic experience! But while I waited for the instructor to pick me up, there came a lady to the hotel I was staying and she was waiting for someone. I couldn’t resist it… I had to go bother her for a few photos. This one, she wouldn’t stop smiling, so I asked her to stare at me like she was a proud queen. That’s the photo I liked the most hehe… but what I really like about it is that she looks like the mountainous pachamama represented in the religious peruvian arts!

~~~~~
Eu já falei que essa foi uma das melhores viagens da minha vida? Que eu estou em estado perpétuo de paixão pelo Peru? As pessoas, a comida, as paisagens… o quinto dia foi o dia que eu tinha decidido fazer paragliding em Chincheros. Que experiência fantástica! Mas enquanto eu esperava o instrutor ir me buscar, chegou uma mulher no hotel que eu estava ficando e ficou lá esperando alguém. Eu não pude resistir… tive que ir incomodá-la para fazer umas fotos. Ela não parava de sorrir, então eu pedi a ela que me encarasse como se fosse uma rainha orgulhosa. Essa foi a foto que eu mais gostei hehe… mas o que eu mais gosto nessa foto é que ela parece a pachamama montanhosa representada na arte sacra peruana, mais precisamente “escuela cusqueña de arte”.
Pachamama
later this day, after the paragliding I went to the Saint Catalina’s Monastery and I was delighted with the art in there. Again, photos weren’t allowed, but not only there were guards everywhere, there was a vigilance system as well… anyway, I bought a post card of the painting I like the most – Our Lady of the Rosary of Pomata. See her shape? Mountainous. It’s Pachamama disguised in the madonna. And the flamingo wings again as well haha.
~~~~~

And after that still, I went to a painting store next door and got myself this painting from the escuela cusqueña de arte… 🙂 gotta get it framed…

~~~~~
E depois do monastério eu passei numa loja de pinturas ao lado e comprei essa pintura da escuela cusqueña de arte… 🙂 tenho que mandar emoldurar…
Alright, off to Chincheros!!
Yoselin-01
The first jump spot we went was wrapped in low clouds. We couldn’t see anything so we’d have to go to the other spot. But there I met Yoselin and her little sister. Later in the day we went back there and I took (literally) hundreds of photos of Yoselin. She was absolutely adorable! ^.^ I might even name my daughter Yoselin, if I ever decide to have a kid of my own.
~~~~~

Le photographer suddenly gets shy when her camera is pointed at her! Hah! =P All of these photos of me about to glide and gliding were taken by the awesome Jose Leonidas Infantas Garcia with my camera. Thanks, darling for the kindness! 😉

When I was gliding, a bird of prey appeared and accompanied us for a few minutes. There was a beautiful sunflare rainbow in the sky and the bird was so close! I wish I had my camera in hand to have it in my memory forever…

~~~~~
Quando eu estava voando, uma ave de rapina apareceu e nos acompanhou por alguns minutos. Havia um arco-íris em torno do sol no alto do céu e a ave estava tão perto! Eu queria estar com minha máquina em mãos para ter isso em minha memória para sempre…
 paragliding-in-Chincheros-16In the group that was up the mountains to do the paragliding, I was the second to jump. After I touched the ground, the weather changed. The weather changes really fast in Cuzco! It started to rain and the wind became crazy strong. So, an activity that was supposed to take just our morning, took the whole day until finally the others could jump as well. But I was actually really enjoying it. I got to see more of the landscape and the people and I couldn’t be more satisfied with it… to be able to take photos galore while the others waited hahahaha
~~~~~

Well, so it was raining and lunch time, we decided to go to the village to have lunch. But before, we stopped at an artisan’s tienda. There we had a lesson on the dyeing process, which was really cool, the girl giving the explanations was really funny 🙂

~~~~~
Bom, então estava chovendo e era hora do almoço, decidimos ir à vila almoçar. Mas antes, paramos em uma tienda de artesanato. Lá tivemos uma lição sobre os processos de tintura da lã, o que foi bem legal, a garota dando as explicações era muito engraçada 🙂
She also explained to us the meanings of the many designs in their craft. What were the rivers, the mountains. She also explained that red represents love, black represents their land, so the clothes they are always wearing in their daily lives represents the love for their land.
Ela também explicou os significados dos designs em sua arte. O que eram os rios, as montanhas. Ela também explicou que vermelho representa o amor, preto representa a sua terra, então as roupas que eles estão sempre usando no dia-a-dia representa o amor deles pela sua terra.
More hot chocolate! :3 It was so cold! Even with the sweater I bought at the tienda, it was more than welcome to have it streaming down and warming me up from the inside.
When we returned to the first jump spot, Yoselin was playing hopscotch endelessly… and I just fired away.
~~~~~

For my last day in Cuzco, I went to the restaurant Chicha por Gastón Acurio. Dear God… that was good food! I ate so much I could hardly walk back to the hotel. And I’d go back to Peru just to have that dessert again hahaha

~~~~~
No meu último dia em Cusco, eu fui ao restaurante Chicha por Gastón Acurio. Meu Deus… comida sensacional! Eu comi tanto que eu quase não consegui voltar pro hotel. E eu voltaria ao Peru só para comer essa sobremesa novamente hahaha
