Lima – Day 1, 2 & 3

So, like I had mentioned the post before, I went to the airport in Cuzco to get the flight to Lima, where I was supposed to arrive at 3 p.m. But due to a 5 hour delay, I got there at 8 p.m. only. Lost the whole afternoon at the airport 😦

Como eu mencionei no post anterior, eu fui ao aeroporto de Cusco para pegar o vôo para Lima, onde eu deveria chegar às 15:00. Mas graças à um atraso de 5 horas, eu cheguei em Lima às 20:00 apenas. Perdi a tarde toda no aeroporto 😦

I just to go the place where I was staying, took a shower and went to a really good japanese restaurant near by, called Edo.

Eu só cheguei no lugar onde eu estava ficando, tomei banho e fui a um restaurante japonês muito bom, chamado Edo. 

On my second day in Lima, I had decided I  wanted to walk from the neighborhood I was staying (Magdalena del Mar) to the Plaza de Armas, because I wanted to see the city. That took me the whole day, and I’ll admit that I didn’t think Lima was as interesting as Cuzco. Also, I missed a guide with me, telling me things about the place. Lima must be a whole lot more interesting if you at least have a friend there who knows the city can take you to the nice places.

No meu segundo dia em Lima, eu decidi que queria andar pela cidade à partir da vizinhança onde eu estava ficando (Magdalena del Mar) até a Plaza de Armas, porque eu queria ver a cidade. Isso me levou o dia inteiro e eu vou admitir que não achei Lima tão interessante quanto Cusco. E também, eu senti falta de um guia comigo, contando coisas sobre o lugar. Lima deve ser muito mais interessante se ao menos você tem um amigo lá que conhece a cidade e pode te levar a lugares legais.

While I was walking through the city, I came by an itinerant fair. There were normal handcrafts, but there were also lots of witchcraft tiendas as well!! All of a sudden Lima got a whole lot more interesting hahaha… the most powerful brujas had many people waiting in line.

Eu estava andando toda aburrida pelas ruas de Lima (não tinha muita coisa interessante para ver por lá) quando dou de caaaara com uma feira itinerante cheia de barraquinhas de brujeriaaass!!! CÊIS TÃO TUDO AMARRADO, SEUS FI DAS P*TA!! MUÁHUÁHUÁHUÁHUÁHUA!!! Encomendei vários serviços!!! kkkkk brincadeira… só de chegar perto me dava os faniquitos… e esse sapinho é para dar sorte, não é de amarrar a boca kkkkkkk mas tinha várias coisas sinistras na feira, e as brujas mais poderosas tinham várias pessoas esperando na fila!!

Plaza de Armas

On the third day, I had planned on  sunbathing for half an hour, then going to a bar for lunch and after that to the city market. But I was so tired I ended sleeping under the sun… not for one or two hours… but 4 hours!!! Don’t even ask me how I did that, specially on a stony beach… and I didn’t even know my skin could reach the shade of tan I got then.

No terceiro dia os planos eram pegar um sol por uma meia hora e depois ir a um bar almoçar e depois ir ao mercado municipal. Mas cheguei na praia, deitei e… dormi!! Mas não foi uma dormidinha de uma ou duas horas… nããããooo… eu apaguei por 4 horas!! Nem sei como eu consegui dormir tanto numa praia de pedras. E eu não sabia que minha pele chegava na cor que ficou.

Do you see those buildings faaaar, far in the distance? I walked from Magdalena del Mar to Miraflores (those buildings)… because I surely must have some kind of brain damage that makes me take such decisions. My exact thought at the time: “If I can see it, I can reach it”

Vocês estão vendo os prédios loooonge, lá longe… distantes? Eu andei de Magdalena del Mar até Miraflores (aqueles prédios)… porque eu certamente devo ter algum tipo de dano cerebral que me faz tomar essas decisões. Meu pensamento na hora: “Se eu consigo ver, eu consigo chegar”

By the way, they are building a lot of things in the Magdalena del Mar beach. I think it will be super cool in a few years. A place to go to.

A propósito, eles estão construindo um monte de coisas na praia de Magdalena del Mar. Eu acho que vai ficar muito show em alguns anos. Um lugar para se ir.

Walking I reached this place. Anyone who knows the place knows that I shouldn’t be there… alone… with my camera… nice view though 😀

Andando eu cheguei a esse lugar. Qualquer um que conhece o lugar sabe que eu não devia estar lá… sozinha… com minha máquina… mas tem uma vista legal 😀

Finally… Miraflores… I took this photo bellow… and I slept. hahaha and you’ll see down there in another picture that there’s a part with normal sand nearby, but no one bathes there. Everyone’s at the painy stones. Why!? Why is that?

Finalmente… Miraflores… eu fiz essa foto abaixo… e dormi. E abaixo tem uma foto que dá para ver que em uma outra parte da praia tem areia normal, mas ninguém se banha ali. Todo mundo fica nas pedras da dor. Por quê?! Por que isso?

Cartas de um amor há muito tempo perdido. Devia ser, ela estava chorando.

After sunbathing for 6 hours (two hours trying to even out the tan in the back), I went back to the flat I was staying by walking through the posh neighborhood of Miraflores. Very neat place. At 7:30 p.m. I had a reservation at the Astrid and Gastón restaurant, where I had a most amazing gastronomic experience! That was the first time I had been to a restaurant “like that” and man, that was a cool experience hahaha actually these gourmet restaurants are pretty much about that: the experience.

Depois de ficar torrando no sol por 6 horas (fiquei duas horas de bunda pro ar para tentar igualar a cor), eu voltei ao apartamento onde eu estava ficando, andando pela vizinhança posh de Miraflores. É um lugar muito bonito e arrumadinho. Às 19:30 eu tinha uma reserva no restaurante Astrid e Gastón, onde eu tive uma experiência gastronomica sensacional! Foi a minha primeira vez num restaurante “assim” e cara, foi uma experiência da hora! hahaha na verdade, esses restaurantes gourmets são muito mais focados nisso: a experiência.

At Gastón’s restaurant I chose the degustation menu. Which means I got to try a little bit of a lot of dishes. Before they start the food show, they presented me with a souvenir of the degustation dinner experience. A sofisticated gift with a poem book, two CDs with peruvian sounds, a booklet with the degustation menu, a booklet explaining the concept of the journey represented in the dishes, a letter and a photo. There’s a post at the Spanish Hipster blog with better explanation and better photos if you wish to see it.

No restaurante de Astrid e Gastón eu escolhi o menu de degustação. O que significa que eu comeria um pouco de vários pratos. Antes de começarem o show das comideiras, eles me apresentaram com um souvenir da experiência do jantar de degustação. Um presente sofisticado com um livro de poemas, dois CDs com sons peruanos, um livrinho com o menu da noite, um livrinho explicando o conceito da viagem representada nos pratos, uma carta e uma foto.

And so my trip to Peru ended. Next day early in the morning I got the airplane back to Brazil.
