Workshop on Natural Light

Some weeks ago I hosted a workshop on natural light. It was held at a vert nice farm that belongs to the family of a friend of mine. On the workshops I host, I talk about photography and light for one hour and a half (that’s the time it takes for the first model to get ready) and then we go to the sceneries I had planned for each photo. I explain about the light in each scenery, the composition and direction of the model, and then I welcome everyone to shoot with the composition I arranged and to try new ones of their own.

Algumas semanas atrás eu dei um workshop sobre luz natural. O workshop aconteceu numa fazenda muito legal que pertence a família de uma amiga minha. Nos workshops que eu organizo, primeiro eu falo por uma hora e meia sobre fotografia e luz, que é o tempo que leva para a primeira modelo ficar pronta, e depois nos dirigimos aos cenários que eu planejei para cada foto. Eu falo sobre a luz em cada cenário, composição e direção da modelo, e então eu convido a todos a fotografar na composição que eu planejei e também e a buscar ângulos e composições próprias.

For the first photo though, I wanted a goose… which we had to hunt lol. That was one of the high funny points of the day. (These three photos bellow were taken by Kleber Nunes, one of the participants on the workshop)

Mas para a primeira foto, eu queria um ganso… o qual tivemos que caçar rs. Esse foi um dos momentos mais engraçados do dia. (Essas 3 fotos abaixo foram tiradas por Kleber Nunes, um dos participantes do workshop)

For the concept of the shoot, I had in mind something kind of out of “Tonari no Totoro” movie – My neighbor Totoro, in which (in the movie) two little girls who live in the country side meet an supernatural creature and make friends with it, but we ended up running out of time and we didn’t get to take pictures of the two models interacting with each other… so it is now like two separate stories being told.

Para o conceito do ensaio, eu tinha em mente algo como no filme “Meu vizinho Totoro”, mas acabamos ficando sem luz e sem tempo e não deu para fazer fotos das duas modelos interagindo no final… então agora essas fotos são como duas histórias separadas sendo contadas.
