Pontal do Paraná e Ilha do mel

My brother is on vacations, so we decided to hit the road monday morning and go to Pontal do Paraná, a small beach city where my aunt Odete has a hostel. It had been 20 years since the last time I went there… We arrived at 6p.m. and went to the beach for a stroll. Tuesday we went to “Honey Island”, a place so close by and well-known, it’s a shame we had never been there before. Wednesday, we were so trashed from our adventure at the Honey Island that we only rested.

O meu irmão está de férias, então nós decidimos pegar a estrada na segunda-feira de manhã e fomos a Pontal do Paraná, uma pequena cidade no litoral onde minha tia Odete tem uma pousada. Fazia 20 anos desde a última vez que eu havia ido para lá… nós chegamos às 18:00 e fomos dar uma andada na praia. Na terça-feira, nós fomos para a Ilha do Mel, um lugar tão próximo e conhecido que era uma vergonha a gente nunca ter ido antes. Na quarta-feira, nós estávamos tão podres da aventura na Ilha do mel, que só ficamos descansando. Meu irmão dormindo e eu editando fotos.

Tuesday morning we got a boat and headed to the island. We arrived at a pier somewhat near the Enchanted Grot. Just so you know how much we walked, this is a screenshot of our “little tour” around the island. The problem is that we were wearing flip flops, as we were told there would be boats taking people from one point of interest to another. But since it was low season, there was nobody doing that. So we walked… and walked… and then walked some more… until we finally found a pier that was taking people back to the continent.

Terça de manhã nós pegamos um barco e seguimos para a ilha. Nós chegamos em um trapiche relativamente perto da Gruta das Encantadas. Só para vocês terem uma idéia do tanto que andamos, esse é um print do nosso passeio pela ilha. O problema foi que estávamos de chinelo, já que haviam nos dito que haveriam barcos fazendo os trajetos de um ponto de interesse a outro. Mas como era baixa temporada, não havia ninguém fazendo isso. Então nós andamos… e andamos… e daí andamos um pouco mais… até que finalmente encontramos um trapiche que estava funcionando e levando pessoas de volta ao continente.

Nessa foto acima, vocês conseguem ver um pontinho solitário na areia branca? Sou eu, essa foto foi tirada pelo meu irmão enquanto ele me esperava na colina.

We thought we only had to cross the path were my tiny brother is seen in the picture to reach the other side of the island, but when we got there… that’s what we were presented with. So we had to hike up the hill.

Nós achamos que só teríamos que atravessar o caminho onde meu irmão minúsculo pode ser visto na foto, para chegar ao outro lado da ilha, mas quando nós chegamos lá… nos deparamos com um rochedo. Então tivemos que fazer a trilha colina acima.

The skeletons of these sea biscuits are to be found everywhere in this region. This brings so many childhood memories back…

At lunch time we were lucky to find a resort to grab something to eat. It was the fancy Grajagan Surf Resort. Pretty neat place.

Na hora do almoço nós tivemos a sorte de encontrar uma pousada para comermos algo. Era o todo chic Grajagan Surf Resort. Lugar com uma decoração interessante.

We passed through maaaany trails like this one, which were very pleasant, I must say.
