Arraial do Cabo

When I was on the boat ride in Angra, I helped a few people around with translations and got to be talking a little with two guys from Australia, Nick and Chris. We found out we’d be going to Arraial do Cabo on the same day to do the same tour diving on an island and I gave them a ride from Rio to Arraial. We hanged around Arraial for the day and at night they returned to Rio, while I stayed for a second day in Arraial. Always cool to meet people from other places.

Quando eu estava fazendo o passeio de barco em Angra, eu ajudei algumas pessoas com traduções e fiquei conversando com dois guris da Austrália, Nick e Chris. Nós descobrimos que iríamos a Arraial do Cabo no mesmo dia para fazer o mesmo mergulho em uma ilha e então eu dei carona para eles do Rio até Arraial. Nós passeamos juntos durante o dia e à noite eles voltaram pro Rio, enquanto eu fiquei em Arraial um segundo dia. Sempre bem legal conhecer pessoas de outros lugares. 

After diving, we went to Praia Grande, but we stayed there for 10 minutes only. The water there is known to be freeeeezing, and we doubt it. Now we know it is true. This beach is on the way of a sea current that comes from Patagonia, it seems. And it keeps its ungodly temperature aaaall the way up the continent.

Depois do mergulho, nós fomos para a Praia Grande, mas nós ficamos apenas 10 minutos. A água do lugar é conhecida por ser congelante, e nós duvidamos que fosse mesmo. Agora sabemos que é verdade. É uma praia que fica no caminho de uma corrente marítima que me disseram que vem da Patagônia. E mantém suas temperaturas congelantes por todo o caminho pelo continente.

After the frustrating beautiful cold waters, we went to As Prainhas, a secluded beach, hard to reach, but quite worth the difficulty. And there the water was nice.

Depois da frustração de passar por uma praia tão bonita mas tão gelada, nós fomos para As Prainhas, uma praia isolada, bem difícil de se chegar lá, mas que vale a pena o esforço. E lá a água estava gostosa.

The next day, I first walked the Angel’s Beach.

No dia seguinte, andei pela Praia dos Anjos

Sadly this day, it was cold and rainy.

Infelizmente nesse dia estava frio e chovendo.

And then a quick strol by Praia do Forno, another secluded beach, only reached by boat or a trail through the hills.

E depois um passeio rápido pela Praia do Forno, outra praia isolada, que só dá para chegar por barco ou trilha pelas colinas.
